AI-Assisted Design Engineering
At Mencast Marine, we are not just designing components; we are reengineering the entire marine engineering workflow – transforming a traditional 40-year-old process into an intelligent, data-driven system. This role blends data science, artificial intelligence, and engineering intuition to create “super propellers” and high-performance components. You will leverage four decades of collected data to drive performance improvements and build models that won’t just predict – they will act, monitor, and learn.
- Industry-Grade AI: Work on applied AI solutions using real industrial datasets and industry-relevant use cases.
- Future-Focused Design: Be part of the transformation from traditional CAD to intelligent, performance-driven digital design.
- Cross-Disciplinary Impact: Contribute to innovations that span design, operations, and quality, linking digital intelligence with real-world outcomes.
- Performance-Driven Design: Create new or enhance existing marine part designs based on real-world engineering constraints and performance specifications.
- Simulation & CFD Validation: Run and interpret Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to analyze fluid-structure interaction, noise, and component performance.
- Intelligent Optimization: Apply artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and evolutionary algorithms to automate the design process and achieve the best performance profiles.
- AI Model Development: Develop, fine-tune, and evaluate robust AI/ML models such as regression, neural networks, cVAE, or GANs for engineering and operations.
- Surrogate Modeling: Build surrogate models to quickly analyze and predict outcomes where direct simulation is too time-consuming or costly.
- AI Agent Development: Build interactive agents or chatbots using LangChain and LLM APIs to automate responses and assist engineers in design and troubleshooting.
- Digital Asset Management: Develop AI systems for intelligent search and recommendation using semantic understanding of engineering documents and CAD models.
We are looking for candidates who are eager to engineer “AI that matters”. Whether you are an intern or a new hire, we value:
- Agile Resilience: An iterative mindset – willing to experiment boldly, pivot based on data, and transform early setbacks into rapid learning milestones.
- Curiosity & Drive: A naturally curious problem-solver who isn’t afraid of complex industrial challenges or “unsolvable” engineering hurdles.
- Analytical Clarity: The ability to remain clear-headed under pressure and interpret complex model behaviors or manufacturing data with high precision.
- Effective Communication: Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary R&D team.
- Technical Foundation: Proficiency in Python, C/C++, or relevant engineering tools (CAD/CAM/CFD) and a passion for smart technology.
