Intern or new hire

AI-Assisted Design Engineering

We're not just designing components - we're reengineering the entire marine engineering workflow into an intelligent, data-driven system. This role blends data science, AI and engineering intuition to create "super propellers" and high-performance components, leveraging 45 years of collected data to build models that don't just predict - they act, monitor and learn.

What you'll work on

  • ▶Performance-driven design - create new or enhance existing marine part designs based on real-world engineering constraints and performance specifications.
  • ▶Simulation & CFD validation - run and interpret CFD simulations to analyse fluid-structure interaction, noise and component performance.
  • ▶Intelligent optimization - apply AI, ML and evolutionary algorithms to automate the design process and achieve the best performance profiles.
  • ▶AI model development - develop, fine-tune and evaluate robust AI/ML models such as regression, neural networks, cVAE or GANs for engineering and operations.
  • ▶Surrogate modeling - build surrogate models to quickly predict outcomes where direct simulation is too time-consuming or costly.
  • ▶AI agent development - build interactive agents or chatbots using LangChain and LLM APIs to automate responses and assist engineers in design and troubleshooting.
  • ▶Digital asset management - develop AI systems for intelligent search and recommendation using semantic understanding of engineering documents and CAD models.

Intern or new hire

Smart Advanced Manufacturing Systems

Mencast Marine is Singapore's leading marine propeller manufacturer and a trailblazer in large-format metal additive manufacturing. This role connects the physical factory floor to data-driven systems - reimagining how large metal marine parts are built using WAAM and laser DED, and integrating IoT, cloud computing and Edge AI to redefine smart production.

What you'll work on

  • ▶Robotic additive manufacturing operations - work hands-on with large-format WAAM and laser DED systems, monitoring the transformation of digital designs into full-scale metal parts.
  • ▶Advanced CADCAM & toolpathing - use specialized CADCAM software to generate and optimize precise toolpaths for additive manufacturing and robotic/CNC post-processing.
  • ▶IoT solution development - develop and deploy IoT solutions using sensors, encoders and automation tools for real-time monitoring and control of machinery.
  • ▶Edge AI & data analytics - design and implement local Edge AI solutions to process sensor data at the source, enabling immediate insights on the factory floor without cloud latency.
  • ▶Robotic & CNC post-processing - operate robotic finishing systems or CNC machines for trimming, milling and surface refinement to achieve final tolerances.
  • ▶Cloud & data fusion - implement scalable cloud computing solutions to integrate IoT devices and support multi-modal sensor data fusion.
  • ▶Cybersecurity - implement security protocols and risk mitigation to ensure the integrity of industrial data and networks.

What we look for

The same in everyone - intern or new hire

Both roles share what matters most. Beyond the technical foundation, we care about how you think and work.

1

Agile resilience

An iterative mindset - willing to experiment boldly, pivot based on data, and turn early setbacks into rapid learning.

2

Curiosity & drive

A naturally curious problem-solver who isn't fazed by complex industrial challenges or "unsolvable" engineering hurdles.

3

Analytical clarity

Clear-headed under pressure, interpreting complex model behaviour or manufacturing data with precision.

4

Effective communication

Strong communication and the ability to work well within a multi-disciplinary team.

5

Technical foundation

Both proficiency and passion - real skill in the core tools of your track (Python and C/C++ for AI, or CADCAM, robotics and CNC for advanced manufacturing), paired with a genuine drive for smart, data-driven technology.
